Polyurethane screed
A polyurethane cast floor (also called pu cast floor) is characterised by its (tough) elastic and seamless properties. These contribute to a high level of comfort. The typical layer thickness is around 2 mm. A polyurethane self-levelling screed is also even, smooth and pore-free.
Because a polyurethane cast floor is even and smooth, this floor finish is ideally suited for busy meeting places, such as hospitals, schools, sales areas, showrooms, entrances, lobbies, offices and museums.
Polyurethane screeds can be applied to concrete floors, cement screeds and existing substrates such as tiles. Due to its elastic properties, the screed is crack-bridging (subfloor tolerant). It is possible to apply a rubber mat under the self-levelling screed for extra shock-absorption, e.g. in play corners etc.
When finishing, you can choose between a aromatic and aliphatic casting floor. An aromatic self-levelling screed is light yellowing while an aliphatic screed is colourfast and UV stable. In rooms with many windows, it is recommended to use an aliphatic casting floor.
It is also possible to achieve a decorative finish by sprinkling the screed with coloured chips (mixture of PVA flakes). It is also possible to apply a sealing layer. The cast floor is then finished with a transparent or coloured sealing layer and is easy to clean and maintain. By applying a granule in the sealing layer, a non-slip finish can also be achieved.
For heavy loads, e.g. rolling office chairs, two sealing layers are highly recommended. A second layer increases the mechanical resistance of the system and, in particular, its resistance to the load of office chairs.
Scratches and smudges are highly visible on polyurethane cast floors. To avoid scratches, it is important to clean polyurethane cast floors regularly.
Sufficient vacuuming and mopping will ensure that the floor stays beautiful for a long time. Too much sand on the floor can cause scuffing. Water left on the floor for a long time can cause lime stains. Make sure you do not leave water on your floor for too long.
Polyurethane cement is an advanced raw material often used to produce durable cast floors. This material offers several advantages, including high resistance to chemicals, abrasion and thermal shock.
Polyurethane cement is also easy to maintain and clean, making it a hygienic and safe choice for environments where hygiene is critical, such as hospitals, food industry and laboratories.
